Spartan sword scabbard ( ξυήλη )

This leather Spartan sword scabbard made for a Xyele sword, features a hand-carved spira motif. It was made to be worn across the hoplite’s chest, while resting just above the hip. The Spartan short sword  Xyele, complimented the Spartan spear and was carried on the hip of the shield arm.

Made from heavy duty leather, this sheath will last a lifetime. Additionally, it is built with a friction fit so the sword will not rattle in the scabbard or fall out during battle.
We make each scabbard to exacting standards based on ancient designs, so you have the highest quality reproduction available. Whether you are looking to use the item for Cosplay, historical recreation or for LARP games, our designs will stand up to scrutiny, punishment, or both depending upon your needs. We work closely with the Greek historical association Koryvantes, following their recommendations on period specific design, construction and artistic interpretation.
